Cookie policy

Last updated: 29 March 2026

This policy explains how CoorieControl uses cookies and similar technologies on this website, in line with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and UK GDPR. For how we use personal data more broadly, see our Privacy policy.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a site. They help the site work, remember preferences, or understand how the site is used. “Similar technologies” can include local storage or pixels used in a comparable way.

Cookies we use

Strictly necessary

  • Session / security (contact form): If you use the contact form served via PHP, our server may set a short-lived session cookie (for example to protect against cross-site request forgery). This is needed for the form to work safely. It is not used for advertising.

Analytics (Google Analytics 4)

We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-KKFHCJR94V) to measure how the site is used. The service is loaded from googletagmanager.com and may set or read cookies and similar storage on your device (for example cookies whose names begin with _ga or _gid, and storage used by the gtag script). These are used to distinguish visitors, remember session state for analytics, and send usage data to Google. They are not used to show personalised ads on our site through this configuration. For details see Google Analytics data practices and Google’s use of cookies.

Under UK PECR and related guidance, analytics cookies are not “strictly necessary” in the same way as our contact-form security cookie. We describe them here so you can make an informed choice; you can block them via your browser or other tools (see below), though that may affect how completely we can understand site usage.

Third-party content

Our stylesheets load fonts from Google Fonts. When fonts are requested, Google may process technical data (such as IP address). Analytics scripts are loaded from Google Tag Manager / gtag as described above. See Google’s Privacy Policy for how Google handles personal data across these services.

How to control cookies

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings or use a privacy-focused browser extension. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may mean some features (such as the contact form) no longer work correctly. For Google Analytics specifically, see Google’s opt-out and privacy controls. The ICO provides general guidance at ico.org.uk.

Changes

We may update this policy when our use of cookies changes. Check the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes may also be highlighted on the site where appropriate.
